Auditions for Moon Over Buffalo!

Auditions for Moon Over Buffalo Sunday, January 30th at 6:30pm!

ABOUT THE SHOW

In the madcap comedy tradition of Lend Me a Tenor, the hilarious Moon Over Buffalo centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950s. At the moment, they’re playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in rep in Buffalo, New York with five actors. On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George’s dalliance with a young ingénue, they receive word that they might just have one last shot at stardom: Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee, and if he likes what he sees, he might cast them in his movie remake of The Scarlet Pimpernel. Unfortunately for George and Charlotte, everything that could go wrong does go wrong, abetted by a visit from their daughter’s clueless fiancé and hilarious uncertainty about which play they’re actually performing, caused by Charlotte’s deaf, old stage-manager mother who hates every bone in George’s body.

All auditioners must be prepared for a cold read.

List of Characters and Age Range:

Auditions for Blue

Sunday, November 21st at 6pm

ABOUT THE SHOW

"Using music as an integral part of the storytelling, Blue spans nearly twenty years in the life of the affluent African American Clark family in rural South Carolina.
Events are seen through the eyes of the eldest son Reuben, who evolves from a preteen trumpet player into an adult artist.
His mother, a relentlessly chic matriarch with dark secrets who is out of place in the her provincial surroundings, holds court at family gatherings.
She lays out grandiose plans for her two sons while the mesmerizing music of sexy jazz singer Blue Williams adds a unique dimension.
Meanwhile, her husband runs a profitable funeral home, grandmother offers unsolicited advice and Ruben's brother runs with the girls.
This humorous family portrait abounds with tenderness, acceptance and the search for unconditional love
while introducing audiences to an African American family the likes of which is seldom portrayed on stage or screen."

Written by playwright Charles Randolph-Wright
Directed by Kaula Johnson.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever Auditions

Wednesday, October 20th & Thursday, October 21st, 2021

7pm

Audition  Information:

Plan  to  sing  ONE  MINUTE  of  a  song  with  an  accompaniment  track.

The track  should  have  JUST  the  background  music,  no  vocals  (karaoke  tracks always  work!).

The  track  can  be  on  your  phone  or  other  device.  We  will have  someone  there  to  start  it  for  you.

ABOUT THE SHOW:

“The Herdmans are the worst kids in the history of the world–so when they crash Sunday school and demand parts in the Christmas pageant, the whole town panics.

It’s up to Bradley and the Reverend to help their community see the Christmas story and the Herdman kids through new eyes in this buoyant musical adaptation of the funny and touching holiday classic.”

Audition  Tips:

1. Become  familiar  with  the  show. Google  and  YouTube are  good options  for  research.
2. What  character  interests  you? Choose  your  song  to best  portray that  type  of  character  and  the  type  of  songs  the  character  sings.

Do your  research!
3. Song  choice  is  important. Choose  a  song  that  is  best for  YOU,  not a  song  that  you  really  like.

You  will  have  60  seconds  to  sing  your heart  out,  so  make  it  worth  it!
4. Start  where  you  want. Choose  the  best  place  to  start in  the  song, which  may  not  be  the  beginning.
5. Present  yourself  well. Dress  to  impress  -  no  t-shirts and  shorts,  and save  the  leggings  for  when  we  learn  dances.
6. Be  prepared. Don’t  try  to  wing  it  at  the  last  minute. Nerves  will  get the  best  of  you  and  it  will  show.
7. Smile. It’s  always  your  best  feature,  so  use  it!
8. Breathe. Take  a  moment,  take  a  deep  breath.  It  will lower  your  heart rate  and  make  you  feel  better.
9. Don’t  sweat  the  small  stuff. If  you  make  a  mistake, just  stop  and start  over.    See  #6  and  #7.
10. Be polite. It  is  courteous  and  appreciated  by  the production  staff.

CLUE Audition Notice!

Sunday, September 26th at 7pm

Actors are asked to prepare a minute-long contemporary, comedic monologue and demonstrate a short impression and/or talent.
Though not required, actors are highly encouraged to dress formally.

ABOUT THE SHOW:
“Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie which was inspired by the classic Hasbro board game, Clue is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery.

The tale begins at a remote mansion, where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu.

When their host turns up dead, they all become suspects.”

Clue runs November 5th - 14th

From the Director:
During auditions after each monologue, you will be asked if you have a talent you would like to demonstrate or an impression that you are good at.

This is an open request to see what talent you are proud of to add individuality to your audition. If you can do an impression of a celebrity, animal, object...

this will give me a sense of your movability and ability to do voices or accents. Additionally, if I find a talent or impression that I am able to use in the show...

that will add another layer to the performance. During auditions, I want to see your ability, range, and personality...

I want to get to know YOU.

See you at the theatre!
